The toad is a denizen of the forest floor, where it feeds on the many invertebrates.  Among the most terrestrial of amphibians, toads have a thin skin and depend on the high humidity (80-90%) of the forest floor to survive. They also have many predators and have a hard time getting away.

Box Turtles thrive on the forest floor like the toad.  They feed on the invertebrates of the forest floor. They are often moved from place to place because humans pick them up and move them or the turtles get ran over.
